Cons Endo Day 2022 at GDCRI - A Landmark Achievement

Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (IACDE) celebrates 5th of March as Cons - Endo Day. It is a week long celebration to create awareness about conservative dentistry/ restorative dentistry and endodontics along with oral health among the public. As part of this celebration, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Government Dental College and Research Institute (GDCRI), Bengaluru, decided to observe this day in aunique and noble style. Under the able leadership of Professor Dr. Kiran Kumar N, Head of Department, the team organised a Mega Root Canal Treatment Camp on 5th March, 2022. 

The Mega Root Canal Camp was aimed to help the below poverty line patients who are in need of Root Canal Treatment. It was indeed a mega event in which a team of Endodontists performed 152 single visit root canal therapy for patients of age group ranging from 18 to 80 years.This remarkable feat is unprecedented in the history of the state. A team of 7 doctors with the assistance of  Junior postgraduate students, interns, undergraduate students and nonteaching staff successfully completed this venture. On special note, Dr Savita B Naik recorded the maximum number of cases with a count of 22 RCTs. The program was inaugurated by Dr Nagesh, Head of department of Liver and Organ Transplant, PMSSY, Bengaluru and Dr Sahana N S, Dean, GDCRI, Bengaluru.

With his vision and thoughts Dr. Kiran Kumar N, Professor and Head, Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Government Dental College and Research Institute (GDCRI), Bengaluru along with this active team have changed the functioning of the department ever since he has taken over the post. Notably, he has succefully set up a Laser Research Center under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
