Fibers and Strips: Non-resorbable matrix materials (e.g., Actisite).
Gels and Ointments: Bio-adhesive, site-specific formulations (e.g., Arestin, PerioChip).
Biodegradable Microspheres and Nanoparticles: Advanced systems offering tuneable release profiles.
Educational Outcomes
The pharmacokinetics of these local formulations will be compared to systemic administration, along with review of clinical evidence supporting their efficacy in reducing probing depth, improving clinical attachment levels, and managing refractory periodontitis.
