DCO Dental Star Joel Gonzales

Joel Gonzales has over 30 years of extensive clinical experience ranging from the restorative & surgical aspect of implant dentistry to the laboratory aspect.

He started his career as a United States Air Force Dental Assistant Specialist working specifically for the base periodontist and prosthodontist respectively for 2 years each. He was active duty and honorably discharged as a veteran of foreign war (Desert Storm) after 4 years in the military.

After the military, Joel worked as a registered dental assistant (RDA) and treatment coordinator for Dr. Peter Wohrle, a worldrenowned prosthodontist/ Implant Surgeon/ Swiss Certified Dental Technician, during a seven-year period in Newport Beach California. During this work experience, the emphasis was on full mouth reconstruction in conjunction with all facets of implant placement, appropriate restorations, laboratory procedure as well as ALL adjunctive bone grafting, tissue grafts and sinus lifts necessary to achieve optimal results for the patients.

After completing his pre-dental curriculum he then changed course under advisement and attained his business degree. In 1998 Joel entered the dental implant sales arena. As an in-depth product specialist, Joel has always integrated his clinical knowledge and passion for implant dentistry into servicing accounts with in-office clinical support. His intricate knowledge and experience having worked with many different implant systems on the market, contribute largely to the valuable support he is able to provide.

For the past 10 years, Joel has also been facilitating live surgical courses and continuing education events for doctors internationally as well as in the U.S. His passion for education propelled him to found Implant Know-How LLC in 2013, which is an educational company providing free tutorial clinical content through the company website and social media.

Since January 2018, Joel is the Director of Sales and Service for Argon Dental USA. This gives him the opportunity to continue providing high level in-office clinical support and service to his clients and their teams. Not only does his support entail dental implant surgical advice for freehand and precision fully guided implant placements, but also complete sterile technique, treatment planning, restorative considerations and solutions and much much more.
