Professor V. Gopi Krishna, MDS, PhD, FDSRCS ad hom (UK) is an academician and clinician of international repute in the field of endodontics. He completed his bachelor's degree (BDS) in Dentistry from Annamalai University in 1997 and went on to complete his Masters degree (MDS) in the field of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics in 2002 from the Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai. He was conferred the Best Postgraduate Student Award by the Indian Endodontic Society in 2002. He went on to complete his PhD in the field on Endodontics from Dr MGR Educational & Research Institute University in 2017. He is the second Indian dentist and first Indian endodontist to be conferred the highest honorary fellowship award of FDSRCSEd ad hom from the Royal College of Surgeons - Edinburgh in 2022.

CONTRIBUTIONS OF SIGNIFICANCE:

• The first Indian Endodontist and second Indian dentist to be Awarded the “Fellowship of Dental Surgery of Royal College of Surgeons ad hominem : (FDS RCSEd Ad Hominem) by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, Scotland in 2022. The FDS RCSEd ad hom is the most prestigious fellowship of the Royal College and is awarded to specialists who have contributed significantly to growth and evolution of a medical specialty.
• Author and editor of three reputed textbooks including Grossman's Endodontic Practice, Sturdevant's Art and Science of Operative Dentistry (South Asian edition) & Preclinical Manual of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics that are read by more than 30,000 students annually across Asia.
• Editor in Chief of Journal of Conservative Dentistry from 2008 - 2016 (three terms) and made the journal the highest Scopus ranked journal in dentistry from India and third highest ranked dental journal from Asia. The journal also became a Scopus and Pubmed indexed journal during his tenure.
• First Indian and second Asian to be elected as the Secretary of International Federation of Endodontic Associations (IFEA) from 2020 - till date . IFEA is the largest global association representing the national endodontic associations of 42 countries globally.
• Founder - General Secretary (2013 - till date) for the Indian Board of Endodontics (under the aegis of the Indian Endodontic Society), the only board for diplomate certification for endodontists in India.
• First Indian to be elected as Chairman - Education Committee of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations from 2016 - 2020. Under his chairmanship, co-authored the Standard Operating Protocols (SOP) for dental practice during Covid Pandemic.
• Editor in Chief (2019 - 2021) of Endodontology, the national journal of Indian Endodontic Society. The journal became a Scopus indexed journal in 2021 under his leadership.
• Associate Editor of European Endodontic Journal (2017 - till date).
• Published 39 Scopus indexed publications having 917 citations and author H index - 15.
• Organizing secretary for the 12th IFEA World Endodontic Congress 2020ne that was held online from India at Chennai during Sep 2020 and August 2021.
• He has presented 300+ invited lectures and orations globally
