Firstly there is something called an enamel on the top of your teeth which keeps your teeth nice and strong, this is a white crystalline layer that makes the top of your teeth look nice & shiny and this part of your tooth is called as the Crown, this is the part that is externally visible can be seen when you hold down a mirror to your teeth.
Most of the tooth is made of Dentine, this is a flexible layer under the enamel that protects your teeth from the injury that can be caused by attrition abrasion or cavities, its formation depends on the severity of the injury, the more severe the injury the faster the formation, and its location depends on the site of the injury, so Dentine can form anywhere around the site of injury, however it is usually expected to be found near the pulp.
The pulp is located in the central core of the tooth, and it is made up of multiple layers of tissues that are moist and soft occurring in the form of a cohering mass that is a cluster consisting of various blood vessels, nerves, and a gel-like substance called Fibroblasts that help in collagen fiber formation and the outer layer of the pulp is covered in odontoblasts that help in forming the dentine, the pulp also consists of Defense cells that help in protecting the teeth.
Within this thick layer of pulp is where the nerve of your tooth is located and this nerve extends below the gums into the root canal and joins the alveolar nerves system as is called the Inferior alveolar nerve.
Below the gums is the root canal that is being held together by the bone structure, the root canal is a passageway containing the pulp that leads into the bone.
Cavities are among the world’s most common and one of the most notorious health problems and are one of the reasons one might need to see a doctor as quickly a possible because if cavities aren’t treated in time, they can spread around and affecting deeper layers of your teeth, this can lead to having severe pain in the tooth, or infection and can lead to tooth decay and eventually needing a root canal procedure to be done or in worst-case scenario complete tooth loss that can be mostly seen in case of aged people with unhealthy habits or low oral hygiene.
