Interproximal Reduction- Clinical Tips For A Smooth Enamel Surface

OBJECTIVE :

Interproximal reduction (IPR) is a clinical procedure involving the reduction, anatomic recontouring and protection of proximal enamel surfaces of teeth.

  • It is an efficient method of gaining space in borderline cases and clear aligner treatment.
  • But there are certain drawbacks and myths linked with this procedure like causing interproximal caries or predisposing to periodontal pathologies and others.

This session intends to address these drawbacks and provide clinical tips to obtain a smooth reduced enamel surface and case selection for this procedure.
