Dental anxiety and fear are common barriers to successful dental treatment in children and may lead to avoidance of dental care and deterioration of oral health. Oral sedation is an important pharmacological behavior-management technique that can facilitate the delivery of dental treatment in appropriately selected pediatric patients. It aims to reduce anxiety, enhance cooperation, maintain protective reflexes, and provide a positive dental experience while preserving spontaneous ventilation.
