International Osteology Symposium Vienna 2026

The Osteology Foundation, a global leader in oral tissue regeneration research and education, has announced the International Osteology Symposium 2026, set to take place from 23 to 25 April 2026 in Vienna, Austria. Under the motto “Beyond Regeneration”, the event promises to be a landmark gathering for the international dental community, bringing together experts, researchers, and clinicians to explore the latest advancements in regenerative therapies.

During a press conference at the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, Christer Dahlin (Sweden), President of the Osteology Foundation, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to advancing oral tissue regeneration through funding cutting-edge research, organizing high-level education, and fostering collaboration with like-minded associations. He highlighted the foundation’s ongoing mission to bridge the gap between scientific discoveries and clinical applications, ensuring that practitioners worldwide benefit from the latest innovations in regenerative dentistry. “Each year, approximately 22 million implant surgeries are performed globally, with 5 to 6 million of these involving oral tissue regeneration,” Dahlin stated. This underscores the crucial role of regenerative techniques in modern implantology and the need for continued
research and education in the field.

The foundation’s offerings benefit not only regeneration specialists but also clinicians from other disciplines with a growing interest in oral tissue regeneration. The triennial International Osteology Symposium serves as the essential meeting place for this global community. The symposium’s scientific programme and highlights were presented online by the Scientific Chairs of the event, Lisa Heitz-Mayfield (Australia) and Anton Sculean (Switzerland), who elaborated on the key themes and educational opportunities awaiting participants in Vienna.

The International Osteology Symposium 2026 will welcome nearly 100 internationally renowned speakers and 3,000 participants from 80 countries. Attendees will gain direct access to evidence-based knowledge, interactive learning formats, and networking opportunities designed to elevate clinical practice and patient outcomes. The event is designed to be highly interactive, incorporating small-group discussions, surgical demonstrations, and expert-led workshops to provide hands-on experience in the latest regenerative techniques.

One of the core elements of the symposium will be four re-live surgeries, where experts will provide a stepby-step breakdown of optimised treatment planning, advanced techniques for both hard and soft tissue regeneration, as well as patient-centred treatment outcomes. Lisa Heitz-Mayfield emphasised the symposium’s educational focus: "We didn’t want to simply showcase different surgical techniques—we wanted to create an educational experience for everyone attending, regardless of their level of expertise. The discussions will cover everything from diagnosis and treatment selection to post-operative care, complication management, and long-term maintenance of oral tissue regeneration outcomes.”

Additionally, the event will feature clinical roundtables, focusing on essential topics such as flap management, peri-implant health, material selection, and bone regeneration.

The symposium will also address the future of regenerative dentistry, exploring AI-driven diagnostics, digital workflows, and next-generation biomaterials that are set to revolutionize patient care. The integration of new technologies into regenerative practices will be a key focus, with sessions dedicated to discussing emerging trends, case studies, and best practices for digital solutions in oral rehabilitation.

A key feature of the symposium will be its commitment to the next generation of dental professionals. The Next Gen Team Sessions will provide young specialists with dedicated programming, ensuring that emerging leaders in oral tissue regeneration receive mentorship and exposure to cutting-edge developments in the field. Over 36% of the speakers will be new voices, bringing fresh perspectives to the discussions and workshops. Additionally, the International Osteology Case Competition and PoA A ster Exhibition will provide young clinicians and researchers with the opportunity to showcase their innovative work. Anton Sculean highlighted the foundation’s dedication to supporting the next generation of clinicians, saying, “We don’t just say we support the next generation; we truly mean it. In addition to involving young professionals in the programme, we are offering them a significantly reduced registration fee to ensure their active participation and access to high-level education.”

Beyond its scientific program, the symposium will offer unmatched networking opportunities, enabling professionals to connect with peers, mentors, and industry leaders. The event’s Osteology Night and a new social networking event within the exhibition area will create a unique setting for attendees to forge new collaborations and exchange ideas with leading experts in the field.

As one of the most significant events in regenerative dentistry, the International Osteology Symposium 2026 will provide a comprehensive educational experience, blending scientific rigor, hands-on learning, and interactive engagement. With a focus on clinical relevance and interdisciplinary collaboration, the symposium is expected to set new benchmarks for education and innovation in oral tissue regeneration.
