Maxillofacial Rehabilitation : The Third Pillar of Oral Cancer Management

Maxillofacial Rehabilitation though is very important for the quality of life of the patient is often neglected in the management cycle.

  1. SCREENING — To improve screening practices so that cancer can be detected at an early stage

  2. PRE THERAPY CHECKUP — For dental assessment prior to the start of any cancer treatment (Surgery/Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy/Immunotherapy/Bone Marrow Transplant/Organ Transplant).

  3. FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION — To restore the lost functions of mastication, phonation, aesthetics, and psychological comforts with a multidisciplinary approach.

  4. MANAGEMENT OF COMPLICATIONS — To manage oro-dental complications caused by cancer and cancer treatment.

  5. COMMUNICATION — To effectively communicate with the concerned doctors and paramedical staff.
