The long-term success of implant therapy extends beyond osseointegration and depends significantly on the stability, health, and esthetics of the peri-implant soft tissues. As patient expectations regarding esthetic outcomes continue to increase, clinicians are increasingly challenged by soft tissue complications such as mucosal recession, peri-implant soft tissue dehiscence, papillary deficiencies, inadequate keratinized mucosa, tissue discoloration, and esthetic failures associated with inherent soft tissue deficiency and implant malposition. These complications may compromise not only the appearance of implant-supported restorations but also the maintenance of peri-implant health and long-term treatment outcomes.
This webinar aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the importance of peri-implant soft tissue and its complications, emphasizing their evaluation, etiology, risk factors, prevention, diagnosis, and contemporary management strategies. The presentation will explore the role of the peri-implant phenotype, soft tissue thickness, keratinized mucosa, and three-dimensional implant positioning in determining treatment success. Evidence-based classifications of peri-implant soft tissue defects and current decision-making protocols will be discussed to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Contemporary surgical approaches, including connective tissue grafting, free gingival grafts, coronally advanced flap procedures, soft tissue phenotype modification, and combined surgical-prosthetic techniques, including pink esthetics in implants, will be reviewed with the support of clinical cases and current literature. Special emphasis will be placed on the prevention of treatment errors, management of esthetic complications, and strategies for achieving predictable peri-implant soft tissue stability.
By integrating biological principles, surgical concepts, and contemporary evidence, this webinar seeks to equip clinicians, postgraduate students, and implant practitioners with practical knowledge for the prevention and management of peri-implant soft tissue complications, ultimately enhancing both esthetic and functional outcomes in implant therapy.
